Homework3

The protagonist is calvin and the antagonist is hobbes.  Hobbes seems to be the
one who picks on calvin. Although calvin himself can be a trouble maker.
He likes to design different snowmen who are doing very random things.
Also i find that calvin likes to pick on a young girl. Hobbes on the other hand likes
to antagonize calvin into odd situations. I myself find that i like calvin more than hobbes.
I feel this way because calvin has a wild imagination and is always up to some sort
of a fun type of trouble. Also he is certainly different from many other kids his age.
I think that this comic can be aimed at any age group. Young children would love the tiger
in the comic and the idea of all of calvins wacky ideas. And for the older age group the idea
of a kid with such an imagination and also seeing what calvin comes up with and what he
does next is interesting. The characters are in a familiar situation because they both are trouble makers. And they also like to have fun!

Homework One

The platinum age

The platinum age was from 1897 to 1938. During this period a character referred to as the "yellow kid" became very popular. This was a big deal because he was the first character that actually had color added to his comic.

The Golden age

The Golden age lasted from 1930 threw 1940. During this period many commonly know comics such as Batman, Captain America, Superman, and also wonder woman. Also during this time comics became known as a mainstream art form.

The silver age

The silver age lasted from The 1940's the the early 1970's. During this age super heros became very widely known and popular. The characters were "Flawed and south doubting." The end came to the silver age when comic prices rose from 12 cents to 15 cents.

Bronze Age

The Bronze age lasted from the early 70's to the mid 1980's. This age remained with the brightly colored super heros. But darker plots became about also they brought things such as drug use into the comics.

The Modern Age

The modern age was from the 1980's until present. The comics became more dark. They now have darker plot storys and seem to be more psychologically complex.
