The platinum age 

The platinum age was from 1897 to 1938. During this period a character referred to as the "yellow kid" became very popular. This was a big deal because he was the first character that actually had color added to his comic.

The Golden age

The Golden age lasted from 1930 threw 1940. During this period many commonly know comics such as Batman, Captain America, Superman, and also wonder woman. Also during this time comics became known as a mainstream art form.

The silver age

The silver age lasted from The 1940's the the early 1970's. During this age super heros became very widely known and popular. The characters were "Flawed and south doubting." The end came to the silver age when comic prices rose from 12 cents to 15 cents.

Bronze Age

The Bronze age lasted from the early 70's to the mid 1980's. This age remained with the brightly colored super heros. But darker plots became about also they brought things such as drug use into the comics.

The Modern Age

The modern age was from the 1980's until present. The comics became more dark. They now have darker plot storys and seem to be more psychologically complex.
